This is a pic from Brown's Bridge Community Church, a North Point video venue.
See the horizontal tubes in the background? I assumed they were Barco MiStrips I thought "wow, that's cool, and way out of our budget". BBCC production blog mentioned at the bottom of the post that Support.Creativity had a much more detailed work up of the set design.
I was fascinated to learn that they weren't mistrips, rather, it was simply 2" PVC tubes arranged into 4'x4' frames that have been painted black. Projectors are used to light up the modules. CG is controlled from 2 mac mini's running ProVideo Player. Each mini acts as a slave node.
I have to admit, stage design is not something I have any talent for whatsoever. I'm always amazed to see how simple objects can be transformed into such beautiful sets.
I remember walking around backstage at the Willow Arts conference in 2005. I was surprised to learn that their set design included green plastic cyclone fence, and corrugated plastic sheeting, as well as some soft goods. Here's a pic...
See the white squares? Those are corrugated plastic sheeting with a 1x2 frame.
See the green between the squares? That's cyclone fencing hung in long strips with some bamboo rods to weight it down
Oh yeah, and their really cool 48x9 aspect ratio video wall rocking out with provideo player
